Hispanic theater has been prevalent in North America ever since Hispanic individuals migrated to the North America. Hispanic theater coagulated in focal points of the early Spanish colonies such as in the modern cities in California like San Francisco and Los Angelas. The Dramatic Arts followed behind the first settlers most likely due to the necessity of entertainment that spawned from the labor and toil that early colonists faced. As more white settlers migrated to California, Spanish theater naturally faced a decline. Spanish theater spawned with the increased migration of all sorts of South American and Spanish folks migrating into the States. Cuban American theater had a renaissance of sorts prior to WWII but was later quelled, at least from the eyes of us Americans after the rise of Castro. Latino America theater faced the same fate as most other forms of theater, and became less popular when new forms of entertainment emerged. However, of course, Latin-American Theater still exists within its own special niche and i look forward to exploring the variety offered through our study of Zoot Suit.
